A passport is essentially the most important travel document, paving way for persons to enter different jurisdictions.

Releasing its first report for the new decade, Henley Passport Index said the Japanese passport tops all around the world. It can access 165 more destinations than a holder of the world’s weakest passport; Afghanistan, which offers visa-free/visa-on-arrival access to just 26 destinations.

Singapore, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Finland, Spain, Luxembourg, and Denmark follow after Japan in that order.

When it comes to Africa, the top five most powerful passports currently are:

1. South Africa | 2020 global rank: 56th | Visa-free access to 56 destinations

2. Botswana | 2020 global rank: 62nd | Visa-free access to 62 destinations

3. Namibia | 2020 global rank: 67th | Visa-free access to 72 destinations

4. Lesotho | 2020 global rank: 69th | Visa-free access to 74 destinations

5. eSwatini | 2020 global rank: 70th | Visa-free access to 73 destinations

6. Kenya | 2020 global rank: 72nd | Visa-free access to 71 destinations

7. Zambia | 2020 global rank: 73rd | Visa-free access to 70 destinations

Here are the bottom seven and least powerful African passports, according to the index.
