The development of democracy has relegated dictatorial leaders on the continent to the background.

With democracy comes opposition. The importance of opposition in the political space cannot be undermined, as it is a way of putting the government in check.

Due to this, opposition leaders around the world have suffered accusations and jailed for crimes they may or may not have committed.

Whether it is sodomy, bribery, or arson these opposition leaders face prison and even death sentences.

In this article, Face2Face Africa casts the spotlight on some famous African opposition leaders who died in jail.
