This Haitian native owns the 1st Black-owned brand approved by The National Eczema Association

Jocelyne Firmin is the founder and CEO of Kiyamel, a black-owned all-natural skincare brand that has swiftly become the go-to for people suffering from eczema, psoriasis, and sensitive skin. When Firmin’s 6-week-old daughter started to have severe eczema, she was forced to find a permanent solution.

She said, “I’ve always suffered from severe acne and dry skin so I set out to find a solution for myself since nothing under the sun could work. Being a native of Haiti and a lover of nature, I knew I wanted a clean formula. However, when my daughter was born and developed eczema at only six weeks old, the premise of the formula was immediately switched, from acne to eczema,” according to Blacknews.com.

The mother revealed that she worked with a qualified chemist to create an effective blend using natural ingredients, which has since provided relief and joy to over 10,000 satisfied customers.

According to Black News, her clinically tested goods can now be seen on the shelves of prominent retail locations like the Sistah Shop.

Even though she founded the business in 2019, it didn’t start operations until 2021. Firmin also envisioned making life better for the estimated thirty million Americans who suffer from some type of eczema. As a result, she spent time researching and developing her skincare brand.

According to Black News, Firmin traveled from Haiti to the United States on a full scholarship, eager to pursue her American dream. Despite being born into a low-income family and raised by a single mother, she grasped the concept of entrepreneurship at a young age.

She had to follow her mother to work in Haiti’s open markets, which sparked her interest in entrepreneurship. Her company became the first black-owned company to be recognized by the prestigious National Eczema Association.

“Patients love it,” remarked Dr. Calvin Williams, MD, FAAD of Essential Dermatology Group regarding her brand. “I selectively use it for those who lean towards natural products, and that’s a significant number. Kiyamel’s offerings are phenomenal, and I’d recommend they reach out to more physicians with their samples.”

Firmin has extended her brand to Beauty Bridge, Walmart, Amazon, and Women’s Market Place to build up her global presence.
