Political instability breaking out into further violence

One of the more under-discussed effects of the coronavirus pandemic is the attendant security risks it carries for everyone. In Africa, a hot spot of political instability, we may have new troubles brewing.

As the economies crash and people are forced to carry the brunt, anger of the past boils to the top even as new enemies are made in a dire situation of material scarcity.

In a continent where one-fifth of nations have been described as low-income by the World Bank, social protections are simply unavailable to forestall economic-motivated conflicts.
