Wot

Wot is a national favorite and it’s packed with tons of flavours. It is loosely referred to as Ethiopia’s version of curry usually made with doro (chicken). Wot is slow cooked, thick and has a feisty kick to it.

Chilli lover will have a field day with this meal because it is made with berbere. Berbere is a sauce made with chilli powder, fenugreek, ginger, garlic, cardamom and other spices and makes it very tasty.

It is also a meal for special occasions, especially after a long fast before Easter or Christmas. Siga wot (beef) and misir wot (lentils, a good option for vegetarians) are different variants of the wot that are worth trying.
