A DeKalb County, Georgia woman has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after she left her 7-year-old daughter to die in an apartment closet and lying about the deceased minor’s whereabouts.
Per WANF, Alondra Hobbs, 29, was handed the punishment on April 23 after she was found guilty of two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, and two counts of first-degree cruelty to children.
Authorities said the mummified remains of the victim, identified as Alivia Jordan, were found in an apartment closet at the Hidden Valley Apartments on Misty Waters Drive on June 25, 2023. DeKalb County police responded to the scene after an individual made a report about a dead body in the said room.
Authorities said Jordan’s mummified body was in a stroller and strapped when the responding officers found her. Police were also made aware that months before the discovery, Hobbs had moved out of the apartment.

Hobbs in an interview with officers also confessed to abandoning her daughter in the apartment closet before she moved out. She told officers that her deceased daughter’s life was “too much” – hence her decision to strap her in the stroller and put her in the closet.
The convicted woman said her daughter had been diagnosed with autism, and medical records also revealed the victim had suffered seizures stemming from cerebral palsy, WANF reported.
Family members were also shocked when they got to know about Jordan’s demise as Hobbs had told them that her daughter was being cared for by her father’s relatives, Law & Crime reported.
“Alivia Jordan did not deserve the slow, painful and lonely death she suffered at the hands of her mother,” DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston said. “I extend my deepest condolences to her family, and I hope that they take some comfort in knowing Alondra Hobbs is being held accountable for her actions.”
