Letitia Wright keeps soaring higher! She recalls depression battle and thanks God for pulling her out. After a very successful 2018 which saw her feature on record-breaking blockbuster movies including Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
The 25-year-old deservedly took home the Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs (British Academy Film Awards) on Sunday.
Receiving the award, a very emotional and tearful Wright spoke about how she battled depression and how she almost quit.
“I identify myself as a child of God, and I can’t get up here without thanking God,” she started.
“A few years ago I saw myself in a deep state of depression and I literally wanted to quit acting, the only thing that pulled me out of that was God, my belief, my faith, my family, and an email from BAFTA saying that they wanted me to be a part of the BAFTA Breakthrough Brits and I was like, ‘let me try again’,” she said as the audience applauded.
Wright wrapped up with some words of encouragement for people going through hard times by urging them to keep pushing.
