Kim Kardashian has reportedly withdrawn her daughter North West from private school and decided to homeschool the 12-year-old to enable her focus on her areas of passion.

A source told PEOPLE that the billionaire businesswoman and socialite’s decision to homeschool her daughter stems from providing the 12-year-old with an extra flexible environment to enable her focus on her creative passion pursuits.

“North has a strong sense of style and self-expression,” the source said. “Her traditional private school setting wasn’t built for that level of individuality.”

The source also stated that Kardashian, 45, “felt that homeschooling would allow her to focus on academics while giving her room to explore fashion, music and entrepreneurship in a more hands-on way.”

Kardashian recently filed for three trademarks that were supposedly for North, PEOPLE reported. The SKIMS co-founder applied to trademark “NOR11,” a company name seemingly linked to her 12-year-old daughter.

The filings are said to be meant for clothing and accessories such as dresses, footwear, loungewear, hats, watches, jewelry, handbags and cosmetics cases.

It comes as no surprise that Kardashian is in full support of her daughter’s creative interests, as the 12-year-old has shown glimpses of such talents on social media and in public.

Kardashian is also very outspoken about being there for her four children and how proud she is to be their mother. The 45-year-old shares four children, including North, with her ex-husband, Kanye West

During a previous joint interview on Complex with All’s Fair costar Niecy Nash-Betts, Kardashian opened up about how North reacted to the online backlash that came her way over wearing fake tattoos and piercings.

Kardashian stated that North wasn’t peeved about the backlash that came her way, PEOPLE reported.

“So her and her girlfriends, they love doing costumes, they love doing looks, and so it’s Halloween season, so they put on like fake tattoos on their face, like fake piercings,” Kardashian said about the video her daughter posted on TikTok. “They all had their colored hair. They look like an opium Powerpuff Girls is like what they were going for.”

Though the image included North’s friends, Kardashian said that people removed the others and posted an online image of just her daughter

“I mean, this whole thing about how horrible it is and it’s disturbing,” she said. “And she was like, ‘I don’t get it. It’s like a Halloween costume. It’s all fake. So she takes my phone and she writes back to a comment and she goes, ‘This is such a non-issue.’”

“And then online, it was like Kim defends North to the end on this look,” she added. “That’s a good clapback.”

During an October 2025 interview on Call Her Daddy podcast, Kardashian touched on her daughter’s fashion sense and how she’s unbothered about how people feel about her appearance.

“She’s really mature in one sense where she’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care that they don’t like… my blue hair or this or that,” she said. “She’s really confident…”
