On Friday, November 15, 2019, 30 distinguished African-American business leaders and professionals were honored at the inaugural 30 Black Stars Conference and Awards in Houston, TX.
Launched earlier this year by Face2Face Africa, the initiative seeks to advance diversity and inclusion by recognizing the cultural shift taking place in the country and how businesses and corporations can harness it for innovation and global competitiveness.
This year’s honorees represent over 15 nationalities and come from various industries including finance, technology, healthcare, media, law, entrepreneurship, and more. They were honored for their outstanding contributions to the world of business, and their overall impact in their communities and on the U.S. economy.
The program included a D&I panel discussion, a networking cocktail reception, and the award ceremony. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Former First Lady of Ghana Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings were some of the special Guests of honor in attendance.
“For the past 8 years, Face2Face Africa has been a leader in celebrating black audiences with innovative platforms and events that connect, inform, celebrate and empower communities globally. ‘30 Black Stars’ is a continuation of our commitment, as we champion diversity and inclusion by highlighting the impact of black professionals and business achievers in this country.” said Sandra A. Babu-Boateng, CEO of Face2face Africa.
