What started as a normal soccer game in Tanzania’s capital, Dar es Salaam turned out to be awkward after a swarm of bees invaded the field, forcing payers, fans and officials to flee.
The game at the Uhuru Stadium between Young Africans and Iringa United was heading for a comfortable victory for the home side as they were up by a three-nil lead, BBC reports.
The game, however, came to a standstill in the 53rd minute when bees suddenly invaded the pitch.
Ducking and diving, the players and officials tried to avoid being stung by the bees.
That couldn’t stop the aggressive bees as some of the players, followed closely by the referees fled the field to avoid being attacked. The fans were not left out, as they could be seen sprinting away from the pitch.
The game later resumed but a few players received minor injuries. Young African wrapped up the game with a final goal, running away with a four-nil win.
