50 Cent has beefed with so many people in the entertainment industry and wouldn’t even mind putting his own son down.
Things have been so bad between the rapper and his eldest son, Marquise Jackson to the extent that 50 once said he would prefer to have Tekashi 6ix9ine in his family over his biological son.
Their frosty relationship began after 50 broke up with Marquise’s mom, Shaniqua Thompkins. 50, in a 2008 interview, said Thompkins kept his son away from him while demanding more financial support.
“I think he [Marquise] doesn’t want his mom to feel like he’s a traitor,” the rapper told MTV News in 2008. “The time I spent away is the time he developed this thing he’s afraid to break with her. There’s nothing you can do about that. This is the toughest [thing I’ve had to face] because he’s my motivation.”
But during an Instagram Live with Van Lathan this week, 50 said he now blames his estranged son, who is 23, for their strained relationship.
“I blamed it on his mom for a long time, but it’s not his mother, it’s him.”
“I’ve gone places where he was at and he left,” 50 said during the interview to promote his new book titled “Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter.”
“He’s not a baby anymore, he’s a grown man.”
50, who has traded insults with his son publicly, said it’s worrying that fame ruined everything.
“Entitlement is growing in someone you love and it’s the scariest part. His mother developed a level of entitlement that could not be matched but it filtered into him,” he said. “I didn’t think success would cost me my firstborn.”
When asked if he still loved his son, 50 said: “I used to”.
“It’s a complicated question. How long can you love someone that don’t love you back,” 50 asked?
