These African foods can help you lose weight in a matter of days

Are you trying to lose weight but the scale isn’t moving the way you would want?

You may have already been frequenting a gym to get that perfect shape or even cutting out food altogether to make that dream a reality, yet things aren’t working.

Instead of restricting foods, why wouldn’t you rather replace the unhealthy and ultra-processed meals with these options to help you lose weight:

Plantain

It has been documented that a “half cup of cooked plantains packs almost 3 grams of resistant starch, a healthy carb that boosts metabolism and burns fat.” Besides, plantain, which is either fried, roasted or boiled, can make you feel full for long when consumed.

Considered as a healthier alternative of potatoes, sweet potatoes have lesser calories than potatoes have. The high water content in sweet potatoes also makes them ideal for weight loss. Unlike regular potatoes, sweet potatoes are loaded with fiber, in turn, they help make you feel fuller and you can, therefore, stick to a calorie-restricted diet. Experts say the best way to eat sweet potatoes is to roast, steam, bake or boil them. You can also add them to salads.

Eggs are a low-calorie food rich in protein and other nutrients. Experts say eating eggs may support weight loss, especially if they are incorporated into a calorie-controlled diet.

Besides boosting your metabolism, eggs rank high on the Satiety Index scale, meaning consuming them may help you feel fuller for longer.

Brown rice

Rice is one of the most common foods that people consume across the world. With special varieties, brown rice is documented to be the best option for people who are trying to lose weight. Known to be extremely heavy and filling, brown rice is lower in calories than white rice. It is also full of the essential fiber needed for the human body to function well. This fiber particularly helps with losing weight, apart from lowering cholesterol and keeping bowel movements regular.
