Music runs in the blood of five-year-old self-taught DJ Kingsley Rosario whose viral TikTok video has garnered nearly 9 million views and the admiration of top-notch music industry producers.

The Portsmouth, Virginia native’s parents are both in the music industry. His dad, Robert, is a songwriter and producer from Virginia Beach while his mother, Brittany, is a singer from Chesapeake. They both however put their music careers on hold to start a family and deepen their relationship with God.

According to Robert, God answered their prayers by giving them lovely children and a musically inclined son, Kingsley.

Kingsley’s viral video was shared on TikTok by his mother on February 11. It won over many viewers. Brittany, in the video, showed a genuine reaction of disbelief to the amazing electronic type of beats her son had produced.

As the beat was playing on the radio in the video, Brittnay asks, “You made that Bubba?”

“Yep,” Kingsley responds from the back seat, grinning from ear to ear.

Most producers have their tags on songs they work on and the five-year-old genius has his own. The cute interaction that ensued between him and his mother is now his producer’s tag on songs that have already been shared on giant streaming platforms like Soundcloud run by his parents.

Like any modern-day music producer, Kingsley makes his beats from his iPad, experimenting with apps like Drum Pad MachineDrum Pads 24, and iMaschine as well as his drum set at home. He got his first drum set from his grandparents at 15 months old and since then he makes ear-catching beats without any formal training.

The music prodigy’s beats have caught the attention of celebrities and big-time producers like TrapNation, Diplo, Billie Elish’s brother Finneas O’Connell, Steve Aoki, the Detroit Lions, and more.

He is inspired by the likes of Bruno Mars, Anita Baker, Cardi B, Brandy, and mostly music he hears often at home. Kingsley’s biggest muse, however, is Pharrell Williams. He even dressed as the fellow Virginia native for a school project.

The February TikTok post now has more than 53,000 comments from well-meaning fans. “That boy is a genius,” a fan said.

Speaking with In The Know, the proud mother of this soon-to-be hotshot music producer said the social media response to Kingsley’s music has been “nothing short of amazing.”

“He is getting likes and views from people all over the world,” she said. “He has legitimate fans now. It’s awesome!”

Kingsley now has more than 78,000 followers on TikTok and more than 35,000 followers on Instagram. There is no stopping this gifted drummer, especially with such a huge and growing fan base and an extremely supportive family.

“I see [Kingsley’s] music taking him far beyond his and our wildest dreams,” Brittany said. “We already knew the amazing talent he is, but for that to now be shared with the world is truly a blessing. We see him being a major influence in the music industry at a young age and beyond!”

As for the five-year-old, all he had to say to his followers and fanbase was thank you. “You’re amazing. You are great. Thank you for following my TikTok and Instagram,” he said. As his father said reassuringly, the sky is truly the limit for Kingsley.
