Parents have to set good examples for their children and Lauren London believes returning to work could teach her sons the importance of dealing with grief and healing. Since losing her partner Nipsey Hussle, in March 2019, London has been off work, however, she is ready to get back to it.

Her first gig back is in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video action flick, Without Remorse, alongside Michael B. Jordan, Guy Pearce, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Jamie Bell.

It was Jordan who reached out to her about the project following Hustle’s death, although he was unsure if she will be up for it, London said. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 36-year-old rehashed the encounter with her longtime friend.

“Michael reached out to me as a friend and he was so unsure if I was even going to ever work again,” the mom of two said. “And he was like, ‘Look, I’m unsure if this is what you want to do, but I have to follow my intuition, I have to ask you if can you just read the script.’ ”

London has two children, a 4-year-old son, Kross Ermias, whom she shares with Hussle, and 11-year-old son Kameron Samuel Ari, from a previous relationship with ex-fiancé Lil Wayne.

“We can’t stop, you know? We do have a purpose, all of us, and it’s important for my sons to see me moving forward with grief, not just curling up in a ball, because I curled up in a ball for a long time,” London said, reiterating the essence of setting good examples for her children.

“But especially for my eldest son because he’s just a little more aware … But we will continue moving on as we had to, as he would want us to.”

According to the movie’s logline, the actress will play the pregnant wife of John Clark (Jordan), a Navy SEAL who “uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice” for her murder.

Another motivation for taking up the job was the connection she felt with the script, a reflection of her relationship with Hussle.

“I saw throughout the film she comes to him,” she said. “Her love for him is still guiding him and I felt so connected to that just in my own personal experience that I felt like I could contribute here.” London said that the goal moving forward is to work on something only if she can “truthfully contribute
to it.
