It appears fans will never get to see Mariah Carey and Beyonce battle it out on the Verzuz stage. Timbaland & Swizz Beatz’s friendly music battle series Verzuz has for some time now had music lovers glued to their Instagram feeds to watch the drama unfold.
Recently, American record executive L.A. Reid shared during an appearance on “The Real” that Carey and Beyonce would be his “ideal” Verzuz. “It’s Mariah Carey versus Beyoncé! Bring that on,” he said.
“The hits they have, the legacies they have. Bey is the queen, right? Sometimes Mariah might be slightly underrated for how long her career has lasted, how many hits she has, and she practically owns Christmas,” he added.
Since Reid’s comments, fans have been tweeting back and forth over who would emerge victorious if the two divas battle it out.
A reporter for E! News interviewed Carey recently and asked the “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer if she would consider a Verzuz with Beyonce.
“Oh, stop! I love you, but we can’t ask that question,” Carey said. “First of all, I love Beyonce and I admire her so much as a performer for what she’s done for the world and everything else, so I ain’t answering that question.”
“I’ll be disrespecting myself and I’m not going to do that, because it’s Christmas time,” the “Queen of Christmas” added.
Beyonce has not made a comment and she is likely not to. Over the past months, fans have enjoyed amazing Verzuz matchups like Brandy and Monica, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, and Stephanie Mills and Chaka Khan.
