A Georgia mother has been charged with felony murder and second-degree child cruelty after her 7-year-old daughter’s body was found abandoned in her apartment closet last week. According to 11 Alive, prosecutors said Alondra Hobbs rolled her daughter, Alivia Hobbs-Jordan, into a closet after placing her in a stroller.

The deceased minor is said to have been left abandoned in the closet between February 28 and June 25. Warrants also stated that Hobbs had “no intention of returning” after she put her baby in the closet and left the apartment.

“I would have never thought my daughter would do something like this,” Hobbs’ mother, Tammy Blassingame, said. “I’m really lost for words.”

Alivia’s body was discovered by a neighbor when he was returning from a friend’s home. He told the news outlet that he entered the suspect’s home after he realized her apartment front door had been left open and a foul odor was emanating from there. He also said it seemed “someone left in a hurry” after he made his way inside.

After entering the bedroom, he saw a tiny human arm dangling from a closet door that was open. “You could tell it was a young girl by what she had on and by her hair,” he said. “She looked like a mummy.”

Blassingame said she doesn’t intend to speak to her daughter, adding that she could have reached out for help, 11 Alive reported. The suspect’s family also said they weren’t aware of what had been transpiring.

“Justice should be served,” Blassingame said. Authorities disclosed that Hobbs had been taken to a hospital at the time of this report. They also said she would be detained after she’s discharged.

“Alivia wasn’t supposed to be in no closet,” Alivia’s aunt, Latrice Robinson, said. “She deserved to live a little longer than she did.”

A GoFundMe has since been set up to help raise funds for Alivia’s funeral. “I am lost for words,” Alivia’s grandmother wrote in the fundraiser. “You had a wonderful future ahead of you. We will do everything in our power to get you justice.”
