Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed on a three-year, $186 million contract extension, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul said to ESPN.
The 30-year-old forward, who is now contracted to the Los Angeles Lakers until 2028, has become the holder of the richest average annual salary in NBA history at $62 million per year. His deal is also the richest annual contract extension in NBA history.
Davis has been an instrumental figure in the Lakers since he was acquired in the 2019-20 season. He helped lead Los Angeles to an NBA championship and averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds per game last season.

Davis had two years and $84 million left on his contract and became eligible to sign the three-year extension on Friday, ESPN reported. With his new deal that will see him staying with the Lakers till 2028, he will earn a total of $270 million.
Davis is a four-time All-NBA first-team and two-time All-Defensive first-team selection. He was the No. 1 overall pick by New Orleans in the 2012 NBA Draft. In 660 career games with the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans (2012-19) and the Lakers, the NBA star has averages of 24.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, Sky Sports wrote.
His latest contract with the Lakers outshines the average of $60.8 million per season that Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown received last month as part of his supermax deal. According to the Guardian, Brown agreed to a five-year contract extinction amounting to $304 million, the richest deal in NBA history.
Brown reportedly finalized the deal after meeting with the management of the Celtics, according to his agent Jason Glushon. The deal will keep him at the NBA franchise until the end of the 2028-9 season.
