Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is making a mark on and off the field. On the field, he has made his mark as one of the most valuable NFL players but off the field, he is making several business moves.
Recently, he ventured into the banking space and became the second-largest shareholder in American State Bank which is based in Tyler, Texas. Mahomes’ relationship with the bank dates back to when he first opened his account when he was only 16 years old. Since then, the bank has been part of his life, right from his collegiate days at Texas Tech University and his professional career in Kansas City.
Mahomes was also instrumental in lobbying Texas-based Whataburger to come to the Kansas City market. He is additionally an investor in KMO Burger LLC, a franchisee that said it plans to open 30 Whataburger locations in the Kansas City area. In addition to his investment portfolio, he has endorsement deals with brands like Adidas, State Farm Insurance and CommunityAmerica Credit Union.
His latest business deal includes signing on as a spokesperson for Prime, the beverage and energy drink brand founded by social media stars and boxers Logan Paul and KSI. He joins a list of celebrities who have endorsed the energy drink, including soccer star Erling Haaland and MMA fighter Alexander Volkanovski.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Mahomes will become the face of Prime’s flagship product, Hydration, meant to be a healthier alternative to products like Gatorade. Also, he will collaborate with the brand’s team across social media, special events, and charitable activations through the Mahomies Foundation among others. The company has already made a $100,000 donation to the charity.
“Prime is a disruptive brand that has taken over the beverage industry since it first launched. They are gamechangers, and that’s exactly what I strive to be on the field,” said Mahomes in a statement. “Our partnership is a winning play, merging innovation and excellence, setting a new standard both on and off the field.”
“At Prime, we believe in teaming up with greatness, and Patrick Mahomes isn’t just one of the best quarterbacks of all time; he’s rewriting the record book and bringing a whole new level of excitement to the game,” added Paul and KSI. “Aligning with someone who’s pushing boundaries and breaking records is what Prime is all about, so this is a dream come true for us. It’s a privilege to welcome Patrick Mahomes to the Prime family and we can’t wait for you to see what we have planned for 2024!”
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes’ deal with Prime is facing backlash from fans. The fans, who to X, expressed their disappointment with the partnership with Logan Paul and KSI. “Why partner up with Logan Paul and KSI,” a fan wrote on X. “Nothing but down from here,” another wrote. “Shame. Kids who idolize you will get Hyperkalemia from drinking this shit after playing football. But congrats on the bag, Pat,” another X user posted
