Teenage twins Taylan and Tylan Walker are behind one of the finest shoe stores in Louisville. Before going into the sale of shoes, they both had an interest in becoming entrepreneurs.
Tylan got into shoes at the age of 13, buying and selling shoes on the market. Taylan, on the other hand, was interested in cameras and videography. They eventually united their interests to venture into the sale of shoes, opening up a brick-and-mortar store for their shoe business, according to WAVE 3 News.
”When I was in my house I was getting a bunch of shoes, and I was getting more and more shoes until like I was getting to the point where I needed to change locations because I had too many shoes in the house basically,” Tylan told the outlet.
Today, they have opened their doors in Louisville. And they achieved this feat through their earnings from restoring and cleaning shoes as well as sales from buying and reselling shoes on the market.
”Shoes and videos are a big market, especially in this time right now,” Taylan explained. “People really want the best kicks, the best clothes, the best videos, and so we might as well take advantage of it. It’s the best thing to do for real, for real.”
The success of the duo has not been without challenges. One of the major challenges they had to overcome was the visibility of their business. To overcome this, they had to be innovative by often finding the latest shoes on the market and using Taylan’s video skills to advertise the store.
As part of their plans, the brothers want to expand into large shops and in different states.
”I see ourselves expanding to either a different place or like the mall or a bigger place or even like a different state to get more exposure,” Tylan said.
The twin boys, who are from Fern Creek High School and did not go straight to college after high school, now look to further their education to help grow their business.
