Poem: Soul Sister IX

Victhur Ihuka February 16, 2016

African bride

There’s this space we used to have.
Where I always became myself.
We would share our pain without trying to color it.
I always left those conversations feeling like I’d seen the face of God.
The resonance was perfect and in that fusion, a unique kind of unconditional love was born.

I wish I could turn back time, to feel your breath when the wind blew, take one more sunset walk with you, in each other’s mind.

I know life happens.

And things don’t always go as we hope.
But i’ll always remember this place, where I met your beautiful spirit; where your being-ness, passion and pain called out to me.

I’ll take the memories, and tuck them deep down in my heart.

For it was in this sea of your memories , I found Me.
