It is election day in the United States. We don't care who you vote for, but just make sure you are voting! Remember that voting is a right that many countries are still fighting for, including a few African countries. So often, we take for granted many of the rights that our forefathers fought and died for, inlcuding the right to vote. If you are a citizen and are eligible to vote, make sure you find the nearest voting center around you and cast your vote.
Marting Luther King Jr, who was a big crusader for voting rights for African Americans said:
"So long as I do not firmly and irrevocably possess the right to vote I do not possess myself. I cannot make up my mind — it is made up for me. I cannot live as a democratic citizen, observing the laws I have helped to enact — I can only submit to the edict of others."
Today, we have the right, thanks to the commitment and struggle of people like MLK. What is our excuse? Let us honor the sacrifice of those who came before us and exercise this right.
