We’re living in the era of the fashion collabo. Every time I turn around, there’s an artist, actress, or musician who opts to join forces with a fashion label or major retailer to create capsule collections. Usually, the celebrity or the individual works to the advantage of both parties: the celeb gets to show off their fashion chops and the label/retailer gets a major boost in sales due to the celeb’s popularity. If its not a celeb looking to get their feet wet, it’s a designer looking to reach a wider fan base by creating a more affordable line of clothing within a major retailer such as Target or H&M.
Since new seasons always bring new and exciting fashion, I decided to share the latest fashion collaborations set to debut this summer.
Kesh & American Apparel– London born, LA based digital artist Kesh started as a DJ but quickly became recognized for her unique style and bold black an white designs. Her work is definitely not for color lovers, but still manages to be striking; you CANNOT be ignored in these designs, believe me. Now she has teamed up with American Apparel to create a collection that combines the silhouettes that American Apparel is known for with the artists’ bold design. The collection was released in NYC on July 10th.
Kanye West and A.P.C.- West and the French label have joined forces to create a men’s capsule collection of just a hoodie, tee shirt, and a pair of jeans to be released on July 14th. The collab was confirmed by West and A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou early July via Twitter.
Reclaim to Wear and Topshop– Thia is one of the most notable collabs yet! Reclaim to Wear focuses on using leftover and surplus stock to create new garments, which is referred to as “upcycling.” It’s primary goal is to eliminate waste used in fashion design and this is their second time teaming up with Topshop. The latest collection was released on June 15th and most pieces have already sold out.
