Jordin Sparks pulled a bold move to get the attention of 59-year-old movie icon Halle Berry for a potential collaboration on a movie.

The 36-year-old singer reached out to the Oscar winner on X, writing, “Hiiii @halleberry! I sent you a dm because I wrote a screenplay about hormones and menopause, and know you’d be the right person to talk to about it! Hope you’re having a great day!”

Berry, who is set to star in the upcoming action film, Crime 101, has apparently not yet replied.

Before her recent request, Sparks posted on Instagram about completing a script titled, Quiet Storm, with co-writer Stephanie Novel.

In the post’s caption, she tagged several Hollywood stars and producers to get their eyes on the project, including Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore, Kerry Washington, and Jennifer Garner, as reported by People.

“Calling all female executives, studios and heads of development,” she wrote at the time, “‘QUIET STORM’ is a screenplay written by my fantastically talented writing partner @sjnovel and myself. It’s been a labor of love over the past 5 years!”

“We have received some lovely feedback, coverage and are yearning for as much as we can get! I’m coming to you guys so we can leave no stone unturned and pursue every avenue, lane, opportunity afforded to us!!” added Sparks. “The dream is to get this read by every female run studio out there.” She also wrote, “This is such an important story and we can’t wait to share more.”

It is not surprising that Sparks requested Berry for the movie, as the Catwoman actress has recently become a vocal advocate for menopause awareness. She even established the wellness company, Respin Health, which aims to build a community for women going through menopause.

The 2007 American Idol winner, Sparks, has appeared in films such as Sparkle and the recent Christmas movie, Merry Little Mystery.

The request, despite its good intentions, has sparked a debate among online users, drawing conflicting reactions as detailed by Entertainment Weekly.

One netizen wrote, “I know halle has been very vocal about menopause research but just the public announcement is sending me.”

Another said, “This is real? There are other ways for you reach out to Halle Berry. Pathetic way to try and get to a celebrity when you’re a supposed celebrity.”

Still others left positive comments to encourage her efforts.

One said, “That’s such an important topic. Hope she sees it stories like this deserve the right voice.”

Another added, “This is a great initiative, seeing as she’s been vocal about these issues. I hope she sees this.”

One commenter even suggested others she could consider adding to the project, “Speak to @MissMelyssaFord about it too. She runs a podcast on this and other female health matters.”
