A Louisiana middle school counselor committed suicide on Wednesday following allegations that he sent inappropriate messages to a minor.
Per TMZ, the deceased man, identified as Quinton Dixon, worked as a counselor at Westdale Middle Magnet School in Baton Rouge.
The Baton Rouge Police Department said that Dixon’s body was found at Glen Oaks Middle School with a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities said that Dixon allegedly started sending a 14-year-old flirty messages on Instagram between November 2025 and early this month. A warrant for Dixon’s arrest was ultimately issued, and he was slapped with four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
The warrant stated that though Dixon ultimately became aware that the teen was in high school, he did not stop sending her messages. Besides making a comment regarding her sexual orientation, the warrant alleged that Dixon also showered praise on the teen by telling her that she was “cutting up to be so pretty.” The deceased counselor is said to have added a fire emoji to his complimentary comment.

Dixon was additionally accused of asking the minor if she had a boyfriend in the messages that he sent to her, The Advocate reported. He also told the teen that she was attractive, and suggested that they become romantically involved.
The warrant stated that Dixon’s messages to the teen were “consistent with grooming behavior in pursuit of an intimate relationship with the minor victim.”
Dixon was ultimately placed on administrative leave after his alleged actions came to light, WBRZ reported.
“Today, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System was notified of the passing of an employee. We extend our condolences to the school community, family and loved ones as they process this information during this difficult time,” a spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge School System told the news outlet after Dixon’s death.
A resident also touched on the incident, saying that “it’s tragic all the way around, something that you really can’t explain about.”
