Quinton Aaron, the 41-year-old actor known for his role in The Blind Side, is awake after being hospitalized due to a spinal stroke in January. A source close to his family exclusively informed People that following the stroke, the actor was in “very serious condition” for several weeks.
Quinton issued an exclusive statement to People, saying, “I went through a lot, but I’m focusing on God, my recovery, my family and close friends, as well as my career.”
His family also told People that he’s currently “feeling strong and empowered.”
The actor is able to speak with his relatives and FaceTime and text regularly now with his inner circle. “He’s excited about the future opportunities life will present to him,” the family said.
Quinton’s family released a photo of him with his brother, Jarred, noting that the two have become even closer since Quinton’s stroke.

The Aaron family also said in a statement that Quinton is “awake, fully alert, interacting with his family and approved visitors.”
The actor has “feeling in his legs,” his family added. With his recovery underway, he is “focused on his recovery and successfully doing things like practicing writing, doing puzzles.”
The recent updates come after a source told People that doctors were “conducting tests to keep him stable.”
Spinal strokes occur when something, such as blood clots or hemorrhages, stops blood flow in a person’s spinal cord, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The condition is very rare, comprising less than 1% of all strokes, and “can still be fatal or cause permanent disabilities.” When blood flow to the spinal cord is interrupted, the lack of oxygen and nutrients can damage the nerve cells, leading to a range of symptoms depending on the location and severity of the stroke.
The recent hospitalization comes nearly a year after a previous health scare. In February 2025, he was hospitalized for coughing up blood, which was accompanied by a fever, as TMZ previously reported.
At the time, medics initially thought Quinton was suffering from Type A flu and pneumonia. Furthermore, the actor had previously experienced a severe upper respiratory infection in 2019, according to reports.
Adding to the complexity of Quinton’s ongoing recovery is a new legal development. TMZ has obtained court documents showing that his brother, Jarred, has been granted a temporary restraining order against a woman who has publicly referred to herself as the actor’s “spiritual wife.”
Margaret DeLeon, who was previously known as Margarita Aaron, is listed in the filing. The order mandates that she maintain a distance from Jarred and his immediate family, which, given his ongoing recovery, would include Quinton.
The lawsuit was filed after the family voiced concerns during Quinton’s hospitalization. His brother, Jarred, had previously worried about Quinton’s condition, claiming the woman was involved in “crucial and life-saving medical decisions.” Later reports state that she does not hold power of attorney.
Margarita responded to the restraining order by telling TMZ that the move was based on personal disagreement, not actual concern, as reported by Complex. She stated, “I haven’t done wrong to Quinton,” adding, “Quinton would not want this, and Jarred is being selfish.”
Quinton is now awake, alert, and actively involved in his recovery and has refused all contact with Margarita after relatives informed him she is legally married to another man. Margarita confirmed her marital status but said she was divorcing.
She has consistently maintained that her relationship with Quinton is spiritual. “We are spiritually married. We are tied as one,” she said in previous interviews.
After Quinton went to the hospital, the fight between Margarita and his family got worse. His relatives publicly questioned if their relationship was real and challenged Margarita’s professional claims, saying they had discovered “alarming details.”
