I wrote about Afropunk’s debut in Africa, specifically Johannesburg, South Africa, at the tail end of 2017. The pictures which have since surfaced from the festival proves that it was everything I imagined it would be – that it would push the culture forward by celebrating otherness and bringing together different African beauty, aesthetics, and politics.
