Zanzibar City, the darling African island which has become all the rave of late, hosts an annual music festival that is drawing crowds from around the world.
The Sauti za Busara music festival brings together more than 400 artists and 46 shows on 3 stages – Old Fort Main Stage, Amphitheatre and Forodhani Gardens – to celebrate African music in the celebrated Spice Islands.
The theme for the 4-day show is “United in Music” and the 2018 edition will run from Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th February.
The festival is also one of Africa’s most-respected festivals highlighting indigenous African music from the continent. Now in its 15th year of operation, it especially provides a unique platform for East African musicians to share their music with the world.
Nigeria’s Nneka performed at the event in 2012. Headline artists in this year’s rich lineup are Kidum, Zakes Bantwini, Somi, Kasai All Stars, Makadem, Ribab Fusion and Saida Karoli.
