Former Chief Government Pathologist Moses Njue, has been accused of stealing body parts and could soon be charged in court, the Daily Nation reports.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)  has already directed the arrest and prosecution of Dr Njue.  He has been accused of stealing body parts belonging to Benedict Karau, who died on March 2015, according to a report by the by the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, C. M Mwaniki.

Dr Njue will be charged with three counts: theft contrary to Section 275 of the penal code, willful destruction of evidence and illegal removal of body parts contrary to the Anatomy Act.

The doctor is currently under investigation by the country’s  Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board after the family of Karau lodged a complaint.

The family had requested the body of Karau to be exhumed and examined, only for the doctors to find out that vital organs like the heart, kidney among others, were missing.  The cause of Karau’s death could not be established without a heart.

Dr Njue acknowledged he had taken the heart for further analysis, but the family said they had not been informed of the process.  He, however, denied he took other organs.
