It is not odd that some African countries are fighting over resources and territories. Over the years, there have been disputes over ownership of land between different communities and countries that may have resulted in skirmishes, secessionist movements and ethnic conflict.
While pre-colonial Africa was not altogether harmonious, some of these territorial fights can be traced back to the scramble for Africa, where colonial powers delimitated regions for their empires. Some of these disputes have been simmering for years as countries try to make claim over them.
