Egypt, Ranked 12th worldwide

The Egyptian Armed Forces consist of the Egyptian Army, Egyptian Navy, Egyptian Air Force and Egyptian Air Defense Command. With about 500,000 personnel on the active frontline force, nearly 10,000 armoured fighting vehicles, 60,000 logistical vehicles and 1,092 aircraft, the Egyptian army surpasses all other African countries. The navy includes traditional carriers as well as nuclear powered submarines, and in a constitutional referendum held earlier this year, the army was given more power by the proposed amendments. The massive $11.1billion budget is the biggest in Africa and is also sourced from large oil reserves. The military has been gaining a grip on power since the military coup that toppled Morsi and put al-Sisi in power.
