Nigeria, Ranked 44th worldwide
Nigeria is reported to have more than 1,800 armoured vehicles, 250 tanks, and 6,000 logistical vehicles as well as nearly 300 aircraft and 25 high-powered naval vessels, lagging behind in naval power as compared to other African countries with maritime borders. The country has been in battle with the insurgent group Boko Haram for the most part of the past decade and as the army is trained for conventional warfare rather than the guerilla tactics employed by the insurgents, the battle still continues. A lot of significant strides were made during the first term of President Buhari but a lot still remains to be done. The hefty budget allocated to the smooth running of the army is sourced from an abundant domestic supply of oil.
