After years of anticipation, Lil Wayne has finally hinted at a release timeline for his highly awaited album, ‘Tha Carter VI’.
Speaking with AT&T during the College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta on January 20, the iconic rapper suggested that the album could drop in 2025.
During AT&T’s “Guaranteed or Not Guaranteed” Instagram segment, host Mel Mitchell asked the 42-year-old if ‘Tha Carter VI’ was set for release in 2025. Wayne confidently replied, “guaranteed,” repeating the word for emphasis.

When Mitchell followed up with a question about his love for football, he gave the same response, capping it off with a quick freestyle: “Got bars like AT&T, flow guaranteed/ It’s Weezy F. Baby, let’s go!”
Lil Wayne has been building anticipation for the album for years, even releasing a prelude project, Tha Fix Before Tha VI, in September 2023. The 10-track mixtape featured collaborations with Jon Batiste, Fousheé, Cool & Dre, TheNightAftr, and Euro. Shortly after, in November 2023, he reunited with 2 Chainz for their collaborative album Welcome 2 Collegrove.
A sequel to their 2016 project Collegrove, the 21-track album included features from Rick Ross, 21 Savage, Usher, Benny The Butcher, and more. Despite these releases, Wayne has been on a five-year hiatus from solo studio albums, with his last being 2020’s ‘Funeral’.

Released on January 31, 2020, ‘Funeral’ debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, moving 139,000 album-equivalent units in its first week and becoming Wayne’s fifth chart-topping album. While the project received mixed-to-positive reviews, it further cemented Weezy’s legendary status in the music industry.
With ‘Tha Carter VI’ on the horizon, fans eagerly await what the rap legend will deliver next.
