A 41-year-old woman was arrested following a shooting in east Columbus early Monday morning. Columbus officers who arrived at the scene along South Weyant Avenue around 1 am found Britney Boateng, 22, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Boateng, a Ghanaian singer, was pronounced dead at 1.12 am. Officers said they learned during their preliminary investigation that there was an argument between Boateng and Tyona Dodson, leading to the shooting.
Police arrested Dodson, who is believed to be Boateng’s sister-in-law. She was charged with murder.
10tv.com reported on Monday that Todson was being held in the Franklin County Correction Center. She was scheduled to make her first court appearance Tuesday morning.
Boateng’s death is the 126th homicide in the city of Columbus this year.
