He temporarily took a break from competitive chess games after achieving his dream
Amon gained massive publicity after he won the grandmaster title, which was just the beginning of another path to greater accomplishments. He almost finished atop the U.S. chess game, nearly beating the grandmaster, Nakamura. In 2007, he had six straight wins in nine games at the Euwe Stimulans tournament in the Netherlands, according to chess.
He however took some time off to rest after clutching the grandmaster title, and temporarily paused competitive chess games when he finally achieved the dream of writing his name in the history books of chess. His devotion to his academic journey earned him a master’s degree from the University of Oxford. He now coaches on a part-time basis for chess enthusiasts.
