Everyday Africa
Founded by Peter DiCampo and Austin Merill over the last five years, this social media project has expanded into an online platform and book. What started out on Tumblr and moved to Instagram has challenged the overly simplistic, one-dimensional narrative of Africa through the medium of photography.
This account offers amateur African photographers as well as professional ones, such as Nana Kofi Acquah and Yagazie Emezie, a chance to capture images of everyday life in Africa even in the remote regions. As a result, the audience gets a chance to see our beloved continent through an all-encompassing, multi-dimensional, and unprejudiced lens.
