Donkey Racing Kenya

The elite sport of horse racing in Europe is very similar to this sport in a small island in Kenya called Lamu. The donkeys are trained by skilled herdsmen who then meet to showcase the intelligence and speed of their donkeys. The sport has developed into an annual sporting event. In Ancient African days, the herdsmen will all gather and register their best donkeys into the race. The event was sometimes organised suddenly and people would gather to watch the donkeys in action. It is one of the very few sports in ancient African societies where animals had mainstage and thus preserved and reared for the activity.
