Poacher killed
A suspected rhino poacher in South Africa’s Kruger National Park was killed by an elephant in April this year. According to media reports, the man was with at least four others who were hunting rhinoceroses when he was killed by an elephant. Park officials, who found his body, said lions had scavenged the man’s corpse, leaving behind only his skull and a pair of pants. The man’s death reignited conversations around poaching. Earlier in 2018, at least two suspected rhino poachers were mauled to death by lions at a South African game reserve.
