Genuinely confused that UNICEF has job listings out for photographers and videographers to work in Ghana (with previous experience in rural Ghana) but specifies that “only non-Ghanaian candidates are eligible to apply”@UNICEFGhana what exactly is the reasoning behind this? pic.twitter.com/c1lnuQib10

Even in the motherland…
South Africa has not only endured apartheid, black South African citizens are still feeling the repercussions of white privilege in the form of white South African’s monopoly over the economy. Even in the West African country of Ghana, UNICEFGhana posted a request for a photographer needed in Ghana with one caveat, that they be a “non-Ghanaian.”
This is a small mention out of the numerous incidents that occur on a constant basis that are devised to further the advancement of disenfranchisement towards persons of color. To the untrained eye, it may seem harmless. Clearly, it is not.
