Obadele Thompson
Obadele Thompson is a Barbadian Olympian who won Barbados’ first Olympic medal as an independent country by placing third in the 100 metres race at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Born in Barbados, Obadele, who is popularly called Oba, started active sports as early as six years old while in school. His sports teachers encouraged him to take it seriously which helped him win several medals in his career. Aside from being one of Barbados’ most celebrated athlete, Obadele is also a lawyer, writer and speaker.
