Sleep reduces risk of heart disease and stroke
As earlier mentioned, having adequate sleep (7 to 8 hours per night) makes you live longer, as having a short sleep puts you at greater risk of heart disease or stroke. Inflammation which is linked to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and arthritis, is curbed when you sleep for more than six hours. Sleep deprivation can also cause pre-diabetes in healthy adults. Research has over the years shown a strong link between short sleep duration and type 2 diabetes risk. Sleep also reduces levels of stress, and with that, one can have better control of their blood pressure.
