Cheri Samba (Democratic Republic of Congo)

Known as one of the most famous contemporary African painters, Cheri Samba was born in 1956 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His artworks, including Les Magiciens de la Terre, have been featured in collections at the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He was a central figure in the 1982 documentary Kin Kiesse.
