5 things you didn’t know about Huey Newton, the radical founder of the Black Panther movement in 1966

Even though he graduated from Oakland Technical High School without knowing how to read, Newton pursued education. He went to Merrit College where he studied for an Associate of Arts degree and continued to San Francisco Law school. He went to the University of California at Santa Cruz for a Bachelors degree and later graduated with a PhD in social philosophy from the same school.
