A five-year-old girl, Reign Ware, was fatally shot in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. Reign was sitting in a parked car with her father when the shooting occurred on Sunday, May 26.

Alongside Reign, a 24-year-old man sustained injuries, while her father was unharmed.

Raven Adams, Reign’s mother, stated that the family was leaving a party when the shooting unfolded. The victim’s mother is of the view that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which involved a group of people being ambushed with gunfire by another group that jumped out of a car, according to a witness.

Police reports suggest that the shots were fired from a Jeep Cherokee. The mother of Reign said she is determined to seek justice for her daughter’s tragic shooting.

“I just want justice for my baby,” Adams said. “The violence just has to stop. How long is this going to go on? Until everybody kills everybody? Just let people live.”

A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money to cover the little girl’s funeral expenses.

“It has broken our heart completely,” Adams wrote on the fundraiser.
