Makala prison
In what is being called the largest prison escape in the Democratic Republic of Congo, on May 17, 2017, 4,200 inmates were reported missing.
The outbreak occurred at the maximum security prison, Makala in Kinshasa.
In the aforementioned break, more than 80 people were killed, 20 vehicles were burned including an office.
Makala is built to house 4,000 but actually has 8,000 prisoners.
