Richelieu Dennis
Born in Liberia, Richelieu Dennis is African-American billionaire. Dennis came to the United States after he fled Liberia due to the civil war. He arrived in America and attended renowned business school, Babson College graduating in 1991. Driven by his passion for entrepreneurship to address the need of Africans in skin and hair care, he partnered with his college roommate Nyema Tubman to pursue the concept of creating products best suitable to improve the black skin.
Dennis is known to have incorporated four generations of recipes, wisdom and cultural experiences into natural bath and body care products, co-founding Sundial with his mother – Mary Dennis. He purchased Essence Magazine in 2018.
Sundial Brands is currently valued at $1 billion.
