The Gambia
A coup attempt occurred during the night of December 30, 2014, when gunfire exploded in the Gambian capital of Banjul. The gunmen attacked the Gambian State House and engaged in heavy gun fire with the government forces. The Gambian soldiers killed several of the attackers, including two Americans, while others were escaped and the rest were captured. The gunmen who were reportedly contracted by a group of naturalized Americans from The Gambia, failed to take control and the coup failed.
