Malidoma Patrice Somé
The Burkinabe author, medicine man and diviner is popular for his work as an interpreter of West African spirituality for Western audiences. The popular speaker and retreat leader holds three master’s degrees, as well as Ph.D.s from the Sorbonne and Brandeis. For three years he taught literature at the University of Michigan. Based in the United States, Somé writes that each person is born with a destiny, and he or she is given a name that reflects that destiny.
