9 videos to remember iconic soap opera star Kristoff St. John

Popular soap opera star Kristoff St. John has passed away aged 52. Widely known for his role as Neil Winters in The Young and the Restless, which he became a fan favourite, St. John’s body was found by a friend in his San Fernando Valley home, according to TMZ.

He was pronounced dead on the scene by police and paramedics when they responded, TMZ further reported.

Born July 15, 1966, St. John started acting at a very young age and went ahead to feature in several movies and series including Happy Days, Roots: The Next Generations, Big John, Little John, Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, The Jamie Foxx Show, among others.

His first soap opera gig was in Generations where he played the role of Adam Marshall till it was cancelled in 1991.

As Neil Winters on The Young and the Restless – a role he played since 1991, St. John went ahead to earn nine Daytime Emmy Award Nominations as well as 10 NAACP Image Awards.

In a joint statement by CBS and Sony Pictures Television (studio that produces The Young and the Restless), St. John was described as a talented actor and beloved friend.

“The news of Kristoff St. John’s passing is heartbreaking. He was a very talented and actor and an even better person,” the statement read. “For those of us who were fortunate to enough to work with him on ‘The Young and the Restless’ for the last 27 years, he was a beloved friend whose smile and infectious laugh made every day on set a joy and made audiences love him.”
