The relationship between Africa and Korea is shifting toward a broader, long-term partnership built on trust, equity, and shared goals.

At the Africa Day 2025 Korea-Africa Business Forum in Seoul, Moroccan Ambassador Chafik Rachadi said the alliance goes beyond trade and politics, focusing instead on inclusive growth and global resilience.

Rachadi, who leads the African Group of Ambassadors, said both regions have yet to fully explore the benefits of working together. He believes the next decade offers a clear chance to build a stronger framework based on mutual interest and strategic cooperation.

The forum was held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul and co-hosted by the Korea-Africa Foundation, the African Group of Ambassadors, and Herald Media Group. It brought together diplomats, business leaders, and policymakers to discuss the future of Africa-Korea ties.

Africa’s fast-growing population, expanding markets, and natural resources are seen as key assets. At the same time, Korea’s strengths in digital innovation, clean energy, and smart infrastructure can support Africa’s push for transformation.

Rachadi said Africa’s development goals align well with Korea’s capabilities. By working together, both sides can meet pressing needs while opening new economic opportunities. He said the focus now should be on building deeper, more effective partnerships that last.

Africa’s importance on the global stage continues to grow. Its role in global trade, energy, and innovation is expanding, making its partnerships more valuable. Korea’s efforts to strengthen ties with African nations show a shift toward more balanced international cooperation.

The forum also underlined the need for action. Participants were encouraged to move past symbolic agreements and commit to real, lasting progress. That includes joint efforts in infrastructure, education, technology, and sustainable energy.

Rachadi called the Korea-Africa partnership a sign of shared respect and common purpose. He said now is the time to act, stressing that both regions stand to gain from a closer alliance.
