Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Ladysmith Black Mambazo, a South African male choral group, has 17 Grammy nominations and has won five Grammy awards. They are currently recognized as the most prestigious ensemble in South Africa. The ensemble dominated the Best World Music Album category with “Shaka Zulu Revisited: 30th Anniversary Celebration” and “Live: Singing For Peace Around The World.” With “Raise Your Spirit Higher,” “Ilembe: Honoring Shaka Zulu,” and “Shaka Zulu,” they also won the Best Traditional Folk Recording and Best Traditional World Music Album awards. They are still remembered for their fifth Grammy victory, which was dedicated to the late Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa.
Burna Boy
With his album ‘Twice as Tall’ in 2021, the African Goliath keeps the number 5 slot with one grammy win in the Best World Music Album category. The musician, on the other hand, is up for three Grammys and hopes to win more of them in the near future. At the 63rd Grammy Award pre-show, he performed with well-known musicians, which was a big accomplishment for Nigerian music.
Youssou Ndour
From April 2012 to September 2013, the Senegalese celebrity held the title of “Minister of Tourism” for the nation in West Africa. Seven years prior to his historic appointment, in 2005, he won the Best Contemporary World Music Album Grammy for his album “Egypt.” Six Grammy nominations have been received by Senegalese-born legend Youssou N’Dour. With his album titled “Egypt,” he received the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album.
Tinariwen
Tinariwen is a group of Tuareg musicians from northern Mali’s Sahara Desert region. The band’s guitar-driven sound, which is regarded as a desert blues pioneer, fuses traditional Tuareg and African music with Western rock. Since their inception, they have performed abroad and had eight albums out.
Three Grammy nominations and one Grammy win have been awarded to them. for their album “Tassili,” which won in the Best World Music Album category.

Angélique Kidjo, a Beninese singer-songwriter, actress, and activist who has won five Grammy Awards, is renowned for her wide range of musical influences and inventive music videos. Kidjo was born into a performing arts household. For her widely acclaimed album Mother Nature, Angélique Kidjo recently received the Grammy for Best Global Music Album. Kidjo has now been nominated for 12 Grammys and has won five of them. The victory represents a significant accomplishment for Kidjo, who now holds the record for the most awards ever given to an African musician and the most wins of any artist in the Global Music Category.
